Roles & Responsibilities
- Preparing financial statements, including cash flow statements and budget performance
- Ensuring compliance with applicable standards (i.e. IFRS, GAAP, FASB), SEC rules, Cooperative statutes and normal systems of internal control
- Implementing daily accounting policies, standards, and guidelines
- Providing accurate, timely, and relevant financial information to management
- Initiating payments on bank platforms
- Leading currency sourcing/swap activities
- Providing monthly and annual bank reconciliations and invoice documentation
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts
- Serving as the primary point of contact for auditor requests
- Ensuring timely state and federal tax remittances and filings
Qualifications, Skill Sets, and Values
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must be a Chartered Accountant or close to qualification
- Demonstrable understanding of IFRS; DipIFRS is a strong advantage
- Must have 5 years of accounting/finance experience
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, journal adjustments, preparation of all financial statements and financial reporting
- Knowledge of risk management and process control frameworks is a strong advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to think critically and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization and with counterparties
- Highly detail-oriented with strong numeracy skills
- Experience working with accounting software – Quickbooks
- Working knowledge of tax filings and compliance
- Capacity to be candid with management and assertive when dealing with banks & other counterparties
